Beginnings
Dr. Ankur Dana (“Dr. A Dana”) was born in the year 1982. As a young child he was always intrigued by the How’s & Why’s of Science & Technology.His constant yearning for knowledge and pursuit for excellence has groomed him to be an astute business leader & entrepreuer.
Dr Ankur Dana is currently the CEO of Dana Group of Companies (www.danagroups.com) which is headquartered in Dubai UAE. DANA Group was founded by Dr B.S Dana with humble beginnings in the year 1991 and today it has become a diversified conglomerate with interests in Steel, Oil & Petrochemicals, Real Estate, Health Care & Hospitality.
Dr Ankur Dana is a qualified medical practitioner, who has transitioned successfully into a Seasoned Entrepreneur and Business Leader.Dr Ankur is an accomplished performance driven professional and a proven leader, credited with pioneering innovations and is a force to reckon with.As a fresh graduate with a medical degree , he joined DANA Group’s Steel Coil Service Centre division in July 2005.His first stint was as a junior apprentice on the shop-floor and he gradually trained at various positions from accounting to operations .Since joining Dana Group, he has been instrumental in starting the Value-added Steel manufacturing division in Dana Group, and is also actively involved in strategic planning for Dana Group. Prior to his experience in the steel business, Ankur completed his Degree in Medicine and Surgery from JNMCH,AMU in India, and also practiced medicine for one year. Later on he also did his MBA in Finance & Operations from Dubai. Dr Ankur’s involvement in strategic planning for Dana Group has been critical for the long strides of success Dana Group has taken in the recent years.
Career
In the year 2008-2009,when the global recession struck UAE,Dr Ankur was instrumental in steering the steel division of DANA Group amidst the rough economic climate. His strategic insights in “Value-Add” were instrumental in establishment of DANA group’s Value Added Steel Product Manufacturing Verticals(www.danasteeluae.com). With 4 factories in the UAE and 1 in India all these divisions are now processing more than 300,000 MT of Flat & long Steel annually and manufacturing products like roofing solutions (viz sandwich panels, profiles, purlins),pre-engineered building systems(peb),cable management systems(cable trays, ladders, trunking ),cold stores.
In the year 2014 he was also one of the key architects of DANA Group’s foray in to the lubricants & greases manufacturing sector. Identifying a strategic acquisition of a running factory in UAE, was one of the key moves which helped catapult the growth of the Group in the Oil & Petrochemicals Manufacturing sector (www.danalubes.com).
Coming from a family of Doctors, there was always an intrinsic thought for giving back to the society , especially in the domain of healthcare & diagnostics. In the Year 2015 ,under the able mentorship and vision of Dr Ankur was founded DANA Shivam Heart & Super Speciality Hospital in Pink City Jaipur ,which was a partnership with team of young and enthusiastic medical professionals .The Hospital has a specially dedicated fund for the poor and underprivileged and has received various awards and accolades for it’s excellence in providing affordable healthcare.
In the year 2017 DANA Group Broke ground on it’s latest State of Art Facility of manufacturing Coated Flat Steel & Aluminum coils in Dubai UAE(www.danasteel.com). Dr Ankur was instrumental in fostering the entire Greenfield project within a short span of time. This Mammoth Industrial project is located in Dubai Industrial City(Dubai UAE) with it’s Continous Galvanizing Line (CGL with 250,000 TPY) project and a Color Coating Line (CCL with 150,000 TPY) project, which set Dana Group into a new league of Middle Eastern Steel mills. It is the only mill in the middle east to have the capability to make Aluzinc Coils by the virtue of it’s latest DUAL POT technology. The Unit became fully operational in Q4 2019.
